Project Recovery
Even the best planned projects can go off track. If good monitoring and risk management practices are in place, a runaway project should not get too far before being caught. At times, though, signs of project trouble are ignored or not recognized early enough.
Getting the project back on schedule can require an outside intervention to assess the situation and provide a focused plan for recovery. The most effective and long-lasting project intervention support often combines immediate project recovery needs with building internal capability for ensuring the continued health of the project once it is back on track. In this scenario, an internal “project recovery team” is actively involved with AfR consultants during the situation assessment, turnaround planning and recovery activities.
AfR can help:
- Determine if the project is in trouble via a “project health check” that includes team and individual interviews, reviewing project artifacts, gathering stakeholder input and providing an initial set of recommendations for a turnaround plan.
- Develop a rigorous project recovery plan that addresses the issues which caused the project to slip and transitions the project from troubleshooting to performing.
- Provide “just-in-time” coaching and tools designed to drive a transfer of knowledge and skills that will enable proactive team-driven project health-checks, to keep the project in control.
